Well entrenched in the Jazz Music World, Michael has extensive credits having performed with, Hank Crawford, Jimmy Heath, Wilson Pickett, Patti Labelle, Pharoah Sanders, De La Soul, Alex Bugnon, Frank Lacy, Kirk Whalum, Lenny Pickett, BluSyde and most recently Bill Cosby's Cosnarati Videos.
He also has performed many shows with his band, The Michael C. Lewis Jazz Experience.
Born and raised in Houston Texas, Michael began playing the horn at 12 years of age. Michael now makes his home in Harlem, New York. He graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston and also studied at Texas Southern University. He is currently pursuing his Master's Degree at New York University. His influences include Freddie Hubbard, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, and The Crusaders.
In his new CD, "Reflection" Lewis worked with Grammy Winning Engineer Jeff Jones ( best contemporary blues record) and Wendell Brooks. He has created an intimate and intense experience where the listener can hear the spirituality and sensuality of the Michael C. Lewis expression, with an intellectual edge to it that makes it "Cool like smoke on ice."
Michael says " I am excited to step out as a solo artist and to meet people who enjoy my music."
